The mission of Claddagh Commission, Inc. is to provide excellent care, supports and services to people with developmental disabilities in order for them to lead lives filled with dignity, self-worth, independence, and purpose.

  • Incorporated in 1977, Claddagh Commission, Inc. is a non-profit 501(3) (c) organization and operates under certification from the New York State Office of People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) to provide supports and services to people with developmental disabilities.  Claddagh may lease, establish, own, operate, and maintain the facilities and equipment necessary to provide those supports and services.

  • Claddagh was founded by James English on the principle that people with developmental disabilities deserve lives characterized by love, trust and friendship as represented by the traditional Irish Claddagh symbol.  This philosophy continues as the foundation of all that Claddagh does and is reflected in an emphasis on involvement in and by the local community, the fostering of a family approach to services, and the holding to standards above what is required by law.

  • Since 2002, Claddagh has been recognized by OPWDD as a Compass provider in recognition of her strong internal quality management system and emphasis on the needs of the people served.  Claddagh Commission takes great satisfaction in this distinction which has been given to only a very select few service providers in New York State.
